CRCCar Rental Canary Islands

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to the most common questions travellers ask when booking through this service in the Canary Islands. If you need more help, the contact page has phone and email details.

How do I receive my booking confirmation?

After completing payment for the advance, you will receive a voucher by email within a few minutes. The voucher contains the name and address of the local rental company, pick-up instructions, and the exact terms of your booking. Print it or save it on your phone to show at the counter.

Can I change the pick-up date or cancel?

Yes. Contact us by email or phone before the scheduled pick-up time. Refund and amendment policies depend on the terms in your voucher - some bookings allow free cancellation up to a certain period before collection, others may apply an administration charge. We will confirm the options when you get in touch.

What documents do I need at the counter?

Bring your voucher, a valid driving licence held for at least one year, and a credit or debit card in the main driver's name. If your licence is not from an EU country, an international driving permit may be required - check the voucher notes. Non-resident visitors also need a passport.

What are the age and driving experience requirements?

Most local suppliers in the Canary Islands set a minimum age of twenty-one and require the driver to have held a licence for at least twelve months. Some vehicle groups - larger estates, vans, or convertibles - may have a higher age threshold of twenty-five. The exact requirement appears in your voucher.

Do I pay a deposit at the counter?

The terms in your voucher explain what, if anything, is required on collection. Many of the suppliers we work with offer terms without a traditional hold on your card. When a deposit is needed, the amount and accepted card types will be listed clearly before you confirm the booking.

What is the fuel policy?

Almost all agreements in the Canary Islands operate full-to-full: you collect the vehicle with a full tank and return it full. Fuel here is noticeably cheaper than on the mainland because local tax is lower. Petrol stations are common along main routes like the GC-1 and TF-1, and you will find several near both Tenerife airports and Gran Canaria Gando.

Can I take the vehicle on a ferry between islands?

In nearly all cases, no. Rental agreements in the Canary Islands do not permit vehicles to travel on inter-island ferries operated by Fred Olsen Express or Naviera Armas. If you plan to visit more than one island, book separately for each location - for example, one booking for Gran Canaria and another for Tenerife.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Counters at Tenerife TFS Reina Sofia, TFN Los Rodeos, and Gran Canaria LPA Gando stay open late to match scheduled arrivals. If your delay means you will collect outside normal hours, call the phone number on your voucher as soon as you know - the local supplier will arrange cover or reschedule without a penalty in most cases.

How do I add an extra driver?

Additional drivers can usually be registered at the counter when you collect the keys. The second driver must meet the same age and licence requirements as the main driver and must be present with their own documents. Any charge for this option will be explained in your voucher or at the desk.
